D.C. United trades Fabian Espindola to Vancouver Whitecaps

The 31-year-old Argentine heads to the 'Caps after two and a half seasons with D.C. United.

D.C. United has traded forward Fabian Espindola to the Vancouver Whitecaps in exchange for general allocation money, the clubs announced Wednesday night.

A source had confirmed to Goal USA's Ives Galarcep that United was sending the designated player to Vancouver earlier Wednesday.

United, which at 5-7-7 sits one point out of the final Eastern Conference playoff slot, also has confirmed the acquisition of striker Patrick Mullins from New York City FC.

For the Whitecaps, Espindola's arrival comes at a time when the West Coast side is reshaping its attack.
