Chivas wins Copa MX Clausura in penalty shootout

The Guadalajara side is the Copa MX champion for the second time since Argentine manager Matias Almeyda took over at the club.

For the second time in the Matias Almeyda era, Chivas is the Copa MX champion, beating Morelia 3-1 in a penalty shootout to lift the prize.

After 90 minutes of scoreless action between the two teams, the match went directly to a shootout, as dictated in the competition rules.

The shootout started well for the visitors, with goalkeeper Sebastian Sosa diving to his left to stop the opening kick from Chivas captain Carlos Salcido.
