Allen shrugs off 'Welsh Xavi' tag

The Liverpool midfielder has been likened to both the Spain star and Jesus but the Wales international insists that he could do without such comparisons ahead of Euro 2016

Joe Allen insists he is not the "Welsh Xavi", although he remains hopeful of playing a key role in Wales' Euro 2016 campaign this summer.

The Liverpool midfielder was given the moniker after signing for the club from Swansea, and has even been nicknamed "Jesus" in recent months, having grown his hair and beard.

Allen, however, says he could do without the lofty comparisons as he prepares for his side's tournament opener against Slovakia.
