Cristiano Ronaldo scripted history by becoming the highest goal scorer of all-time in international football as he netted a brace against the Republic of Ireland in a 2022 World Cup qualifying game on Wednesday at the Algarve Stadium in Portugal.
With the brace, Ronaldo surpassed Iran's Ali Daei's record of 109 goals and has now become the all-time highest international goalscorer with 111 goals in his kitty.
The visitors took the lead in the 45th minute of the match after Ronaldo had missed a penalty in the 15th minute. But the Portuguese superstar made amends in the second half by scoring twice in the 89th minute and 90+6 minutes to guide his team to a memorable win.
