With limited options, Colts keep Trent Cole

Facing an uncertain outcome in their effort to upgrade their pass rush, the Colts have elected to work things out with outside linebacker Trent Cole.

Rather than cut the aging pass rusher, the Colts have trimmed his base salary from $4.25 million to $2 million, according to the NFL Players Association database.

The move will lower Cole’s salary-cap figure by a substantial amount, though the exact number depends on the details within the undisclosed, restructured deal.

Cole, 33, tied a career low with three sacks in 2015, grossly underperforming after signing a 2-year, $14 million deal.
