Why Frank Reich believes Philip Rivers is 'elite' despite interceptions, age, lack of mobility

INDIANAPOLIS — Frank Reich spent three seasons watching every move Philip Rivers made.

Watched every play more than once. Reich watched Rivers in practice, watched him in games, then broke down the tape and went through it with Rivers again, absorbing every throw, every audible, every split-second decision.

Reich knows the strengths, knows the weaknesses, knows everything the new Colts quarterback has been capable of doing on a football field.

“Philip, I believe, is a future Hall of Fame quarterback,” Reich said.

For all of those reasons, when it became clear that Rivers would be available on the open market this offseason, it didn’t take long for Reich and his offensive coordinator, Nick Sirianni — who spent five seasons watching Rivers’ every move — to start dreaming about bringing Rivers back into their offense.
