The rollercoaster known as The Anthony Richardson Experience has been a bumpy one, but that was long to be expected. After just ten starts in the NFL, Richardson has been benched for the grizzled 39-year-old veteran in Joe Flacco.
While his poor performance thus far absolutely plays a factor, the quick-triggered decision to bench Richardson this early speaks volumes to how impatient (or simply dysfunctional) the organization has become and sheds light on what expectations they preserve behind the scenes.
It’s an expectation that rivals that of Indy’s 2019-2022 seasons. The organization has seemingly revealed itself as one that yearns for the pedestrian quarterback play of yesteryear, otherwise known as willingly hopping back onto the QB carousel that nets the franchise with a potential playoff berth and subsequent Wild Card exit.
