Colts kicker Rodrigo Blankenship was clearly hurting Monday night, missing an extra point and having a 37-yard field goal blocked among his first five attempts. But he was sent back onto the field to attempt a 47-yard field goal — two yards longer than he had told the coaching staff he thought he could make — with 4 seconds left in regulation.
Blankenship missed the kick and the Baltimore Ravens would score on the first possession of overtime to complete a 19-point, second-half comeback for the 31-25 victory.
Was sending a gimpy kicker — Blankenship said he had stabbing pains while kicking — onto the field the right decision in that case?
