Two of the leading contenders for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Award were on the same field Sunday, as Denver Broncos linebacker Bradley Chubb and Los Angeles Chargers safety Derwin James simply confirmed their front-runner statuses for that year-end conversation.
As the Broncos escaped with a 23-22 victory, Chubb finished with seven tackles, a sack, two tackles for losses and two quarterback hits. Chubb is threatening the rookie record for sacks -- 14.5, set by Jevon Kearse in 1999 -- as Chubb now has nine sacks in 10 games, including 7.
