Source: Colts release starting cornerback Pierre Desir

INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts are releasing starting cornerback Pierre Desir, a source confirmed to IndyStar on Saturday, in a move that saves Indianapolis $6.85 million against the salary cap this season and leaves no dead money.

The move comes as something of a surprise, only one year after Desir signed a three-year, $22.5 million deal last spring, a product of the cornerback turning in the best season of his career during Indianapolis’ run to the playoffs in 2018.

Desir was not expecting the move, according to a source.
