The Indianapolis Colts today signed wide receiver DeAndre Smelter to a reserve/future contract.
Smelter, 6-2, 227 pounds, spent the last three seasons (2015-17) with the San Francisco 49ers. In 2017, he spent the entire season on the team’s practice squad. Smelter spent time on the 49ers’ active roster and practice squad in 2016. He saw action in two games and caught one pass for 23 yards. As a rookie in 2015, Smelter spent the entire season on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury List. He was originally selected by San Francisco in the fourth round (132nd overall) of the 2015 NFL Draft out of Georgia Tech.
