INDIANAPOLIS — Robert Mathis’ spot in the Colts Ring of Honor has always been a foregone conclusion.
The Colts are going to make it official in November.
Indianapolis will induct Mathis into the Ring of Honor when the Colts host the Green Bay Packers on Nov. 22, the team announced on Monday, one year after his quarterback-hating brother in arms, Dwight Freeney, was inducted last year.
Mathis was an easy choice to become the 17th Colt inducted into the Ring of Honor.
“From a fifth-round pick from a small college to one of the most effective and feared defensive players in the NFL, Robert Mathis was a centerpiece of the historic Colts teams of the last two decades,” Colts owner Jim Irsay said in a statement.
