According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Indianapolis Colts 2nd-year wideout Josh Downs is expected to be out 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain.
During Wednesday’s training camp practice, Downs suffered the injury after a seemingly ill-advised tackle on him by starting free safety Nick Cross during 7-on-7 team drills and was seen in obvious pain.
Something that Colts head coach Shane Steichen was none too pleased about (via The Athletic’s James Boyd):
“We gotta be smart,” said Steichen during post-practice media availability on Wednesday regarding the unnecessary tackle by Cross.
