The Colts are reportedly adding a veteran starting safety to the defense.
Indianapolis is finalizing a deal with former Eagles safety Rodney McLeod, according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The Colts had been in talks with a bigger name on the safety market in Tyrann Mathieu, but this signing signals a likely end to that pursuit.
Instead, the Colts land a safety with a similarly long pedigree. McLeod, 31, has been a full-time starter for the past nine years of his 10-year career. He started three seasons with the St. Louis Rams before spending the past six with the Eagles.
