WESTFIELD -- A lot can change in a couple of weeks. Days after starting quarterback Carson Wentz broke a bone in his foot, Indianapolis Colts coach Frank Reich declared that the backup job was Jacob Eason’s to lose.
“He’s gotta earn it,” Reich said of the 2020 fourth-round pick, “but he’s in the driver seat.”
Less than two weeks later, it’s clear there’s another occupant sharing that seat.
More Colts coverage:
For the past few days, Eason and 2021 sixth-round pick Sam Ehlinger have been splitting reps with the first team, meaning the Colts have a full-fledged quarterback competition.
