The Indianapolis Colts’ all-time leader in games played will now suit up for the franchise's greatest rival.
Reggie Wayne, a fixture in this city for 14 seasons and as beloved a Colt as there has ever been in Indianapolis – yes, that includes Peyton Manning –agreed on Monday to sign a one-year deal with the New England Patriots. The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The news startled several players in the Colts' locker room, where Wayne's lofty status still looms large. But, to a man, they were happy for their former teammate. As much as Wayne, 36, was a fan favorite during his stay with the Colts, he was also a players' favorite, a coaches' favorite.
