INDIANAPOLIS — Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus will be facing off against Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on Saturday for the second time since McDaniels left the Colts at the altar in 2018, a decision that placed Eberflus and two other assistants in limbo.
Eberflus had already been hired to be McDaniels’ defensive coordinator — a move that general manager Chris Ballard played a heavy role in making — and had begun work in Indianapolis.
The Colts honored their commitments to the coaches already working, and four years later, Eberflus is the only one of the three assistants still on Frank Reich’s staff.
