INDIANAPOLIS -- Quarterback Luke McCown was in Indianapolis on Thursday meeting with the Colts about their backup spot behind starter Andrew Luck, according to ESPN NFL Insider Field Yates.
The Colts are looking for a backup after they informed Matt Hasselbeck they weren't going to re-sign him and released Josh Freeman earlier this week. Hasselbeck announced his retirement Wednesday and will be an NFL analyst for ESPN. Luck and the unproven Stephen Morris are the only two quarterbacks currently on the roster for the Colts.
The backup quarterback position was important for the Colts last season after Luck missed nine games due to rib, shoulder, kidney and abdominal injuries.
