A free agent acquisition in the Indianapolis Colts general manager's first offseason, Simon quickly made Ballard look good as he established himself as a standout defender in the first half of the season. Before suffering a shoulder injury in a late-October game against Jacksonville, the instinctual outside linebacker had been a tone-setter for the Colts, racking up 37 tackles, three sacks and a pick-six in only six games.
