INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts have spent an inordinate amount of time talking and thinking about their backup quarterback situation in the past year.
When franchise quarterback Andrew Luck missed nine games in 2015 with an assortment of injuries, it brought the issue to the forefront in a way it had not been since Peyton Manning sat out 2011 season with a neck injury.
So, when it was decided the Colts would move on from veteran Matt Hasselbeck in the spring, the search for a competent replacement immediately commenced. The Colts entertained free agents Drew Stanton and Luke McCown.
