INDIANAPOLIS – He gave us so much.
Gift after precious gift, Peyton Manning gave so much.
He brought a Super Bowl to the Hoosier state. He helped turn a sleepy town into a world-class city. He carried teammates with him on the road to greatness, helping many earn the corresponding riches and fame. And he’s touched an unknown number of kids through a children's hospital that bears his name.
That’s why this weekend is about returning the favor. It’s about paying tribute, yes, but it’s also about payback.
Peyton Manning was immortalized on Saturday. His likeness will tower some 13 feet over the northern entrance of Lucas Oil Stadium after the long-promised bronze statue was unveiled in a ceremony attended by an estimated 7,500 fans.
