INDIANAPOLIS — Montrey Wright, Jonathan Taylor’s coach at Salem (N.J.) High, hasn’t forgotten the way his running back used to beg to be split out wide, lined up at wide receiver so he could catch a screen already in the open field.
The Rams used to call that play Lincoln.
Taylor was talking to Wright the other day, and his high school coach had already seen that the Colts ran a screen like that against Houston, splitting Taylor out and firing it to him at the snap with blockers in front of him.
“You finally got a Lincoln,” Wright told Taylor.
