Insider: Revisiting Colts' Jerrell Freeman decision

INDIANAPOLIS — A familiar-looking player wearing a No. 50 jersey has been roaming the field, sideline to sideline, during the past couple of weeks.

His name is Jerrell Freeman. He used to play inside linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts but, since his departure in free agency this spring, he now wears a Chicago Bears uniform. He registered 17 tackles in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, then made several highlight-worthy plays in a losing effort against the Philadelphia Eagles on “Monday Night Football” in Week 2.

Meanwhile, the Colts’ current group of inside linebackers continues to struggle, with Sio Moore coming back to earth in Week 2 after a promising start in the season opener and D’Qwell Jackson continuing to battle Father Time (he’s one week shy of his 33rd birthday).
