CARSON, Calif. -- Eventually, all the mistakes became too much to overcome. The missed tackles, the missed assignments, the missed kicks all conspired against the Indianapolis Colts in their season-opening 30-24 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Colts did enough to overcome their errors for four quarters, forcing overtime, but the defense could not come up with a stop against Phillip Rivers, Austin Eckler and the Chargers when they needed one most.
