They should have stopped the game. They should have brought Justin Houston’s family onto the field, showered them with confetti, handed him a trophy or plaque or something and let him celebrate with his teammates before play resumed.
What? Quarterbacks get to do it when they break records. Why no fanfare for when one of the best pass-rushers of his era breaks the NFL’s all-time safeties record?
Double standards, man.
OK, I’m kidding. Mostly. But in all seriousness, Houston’s record-tying/breaking (we’ll get into it) accomplishment Sunday deserves to be recognized because safeties are so insanely tough to get, even for some of the most accomplished sack artists of all time.
