CINCINNATI – This was exactly what the Indianapolis Colts needed.
They needed an opponent prone to stretches of ineptitude and with laughably poor special-teams play. An opponent whose quarterback threw multiple passes at his receivers’ feet. An opponent that seemed just as disinterested in winning as the Colts have appeared.
What better antidote could there be for a Colts team whose best skill has been finding ways to lose?
That’s what the Colts found in the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
And, yet, it was not enough to ensure a victory for Indianapolis.
