INDIANAPOLIS — Eric Ebron knew Jack Doyle was hurt right away.
He saw Doyle make the catch, saw his teammate go down among a trio of Dolphins defenders. Then he saw something he’d never seen before.
Doyle looked at the sideline, reached up to his helmet and tapped it with his left hand, the universal sign for a player asking for a breather. Ebron had never seen Doyle tap himself out before. Erik Swoope hasn’t ever seen Doyle tap out, either, and he’s played with him for fiave years.
