CINCINNATI – The stories of players who shined in preseason finales only to find their efforts made no difference when final cuts arrived are too numerous to count.
So, do not make the mistake of assuming that Indianapolis Colts defenders Antonion Morrison or Curt Maggitt or Earl Okine guaranteed themselves roster spots or are assured of future stardom after their performances in Thursday night’s 13-10 exhibition win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
They did, however, flash the kind of potential the Colts’ defense needs. On a unit currently plagued by injuries, nothing would be more welcome than increased depth, something which cannot be established without young players gaining experience through playing time.
