PITTSBURGH — The Colts defense has been flirting with a collapse like this.
Flirting with it for a long time. A Colts defense that spent weeks at the top of the NFL rankings in September and October has struggled in November and December as the schedule started sending Indianapolis up against some of the game’s best quarterbacks.
The Colts masked their issues by making big plays, by forcing key turnovers at critical moments.
But the Indianapolis defense was flirting with disaster, and the dam finally broke in the second half against a Pittsburgh offense the rest of the NFL had left for dead.
