INDIANAPOLIS — Tarik Glenn spent a decade protecting Peyton Manning’s blind side. Now, Glenn looks out for young students in both Indianapolis and California, helping them find a path to success.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Glenn was a first-round draft pick (No. 19 overall) in 1997 and became the Indianapolis Colts’ cornerstone at left tackle for 10 seasons. However, Glenn surprised the franchise by abruptly retiring in 2007 at age 31, just five months after the Colts won Super Bowl XLI.
Football was no longer Glenn’s passion. He had to find another.
“I didn’t want to allow football to dominate who I was,” said Glenn, now the University of California’s assistant director of student-athlete development.
