It was as though T.Y. Hilton was trying to bring himself to a stop through sheer force of will.
As the Indianapolis Colts’ star receiver approached Tennessee safety Kenny Vaccaro, he made a series of short, choppy steps to slow himself down and eventually was swallowed up by a host of defenders. Hilton later admitted he tweaked his injured ankle on the 18-yard gain, which set Indianapolis up at the Titans’ 25-yard line with 8:44 remaining in the first quarter Sunday night.
There was a pronounced limp as Hilton made the long walk back to the sideline and it was the first time during this four-game stretch he’s played through the unspecified injury that the pain he’s negotiating was visible to the naked eye.
