INDIANAPOLIS — The call came while Chris Williams was working at a pizza shop.
Williams was a senior at Lafayette Educational Complex in Brooklyn. The way his class schedule worked, he didn’t have to be at school until noon, and he was using that extra time to make some money at Papa’s Pizza Store.
Then his phone rang.
“’Hey, I’m Custavious Patterson from Wagner College, I’m up here to see you,’” Williams remembers hearing on the other end of the line. “I ran.”
Williams had been waiting for a call like that.
