The Colts are coming off of a 4-12 season in which they had the league’s worst pass defense, according to Football Outsiders.
The lack of pass rush and injuries in the secondary were equally to blame for their porous pass defense in 2017.
Indianapolis’ cornerback depth chart got even thinner after Rashaan Melvin decided to join the Raiders in free agency this offseason. General manager Chris Ballard chose not to replace Melvin with a free agent signing this offseason and the Colts didn’t spend any of their 11 draft picks on defensive backs.
