INDIANAPOLIS — For the first time this season Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts marked third-year defensive back Quincy Wilson as one of the team’s seven inactives. That was despite long-limbed veteran starter Pierre Desir being unable to play due to a lingering hamstring injury.
Wilson, who was beaten out for a starting job at outside cornerback by rookie Rock Ya-Sin during training camp, had remained a key part of the team’s defensive rotation, playing an average of 18.2 snaps per game in the team’s first six games, contributing eight tackles.
Ultimately, the decision to leave the former second-round pick inactive Sunday came down to a numbers game.
