INDIANAPOLIS — Frank Reich and Chris Ballard got the phone call around 5 a.m.
The eventuality they’ve been trying to avoid all season had come. Four of the Colts’ novel coronavirus tests from Thursday's round had come back positive.
Without consulting the NFL, Ballard and Reich decided to close the facility. The general manager got in contact with the league; Reich started talking to coordinators Nick Sirianni, Matt Eberflus and Bubba Ventrone, preparing for virtual meetings, as the samples in question were re-tested and the head coach stayed in contact with the players.
