Former Colts first-round pick Malik Hooker signs with Cowboys

Former Colts first-round pick Malik Hooker has signed with the Dallas Cowboys, according to a report by ESPN's Adam Schefter, finally finding a landing spot right at the start of NFL training cam

Hooker, the first pick of general manager Chris Ballard’s tenure in Indianapolis, ultimately failed to live up to the potential that convinced the Colts to use the 15th pick of the 2017 draft on him, in large part because he could never stay fully healthy, playing in just 35 of a possible 64 games in four years.

A run of bad injury luck began before the Colts drafted Hooker, and the young free safety was never able to shake it, suffering serious injuries in all four of his seasons in Indianapolis.
