The NFL announced Tuesday it has suspended Indianapolis Colts linebacker D'Qwell Jackson for four games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs.
Jackson leads the Colts with 78 combined tackles. With four games remaining in the regular season, he'd be eligible to return for the playoffs should the Colts qualify. Otherwise, his next appearance on the field will be in 2017.
Before Tuesday's announcement, Indianapolis was likely facing a short-term future without the 33-year-old. Colts head coach Chuck Pagano confirmed Monday night Jackson suffered a concussion in the team's 41-10 win over the New York Jets, and he's in the NFL's concussion protocol, per Indy Sports Central's Mike Chappell.
