Darius Butler on Pence leaving Colts game: 'It was theater'

INDIANAPOLIS – No Indianapolis Colts players protested during the national anthem of Sunday’s game at Lucas Oil Stadium.

But that doesn’t mean they didn’t have opinions on Vice President Mike Pence’s decision to leave the game after many San Francisco 49ers players, per usual, took a knee during the anthem.

“I think it was more theater than anything,” said Butler, who has been among the more outspoken Colts on the social justice issues behind the protests. “I would imagine that with our taxpayer dollars he could get some intel that San Francisco has been one of the most outwardly protesting teams.
