Something left to be desired is how most Colts fans feel about the WR Alec Pierce’s career thus far. While most have expected more out of Pierce, given the situation (at QB) it feels fair to denote him as living up to the hype.
That hype however remains in the eyes of the beholder. Before his addition, the Colts lacked a true number 2 receiver and, more importantly, someone who can take the top off the defense. Although longtime Colt and fan-favorite TY Hilton had by default become Indy’s WR2, it had been a while since he was the player streaking downfield on deep posts awaiting Andrew Luck’s pass to return from orbit.
