The Colts traded up into the 3rd round of the 2022 Draft for Nick Cross and dividends are being paid after a scheme change has allowed for him to flourish early into the 2024 season.
Nick Cross had a tumultuous start to his NFL career, losing the starting free safety spot to fellow 2022 Colts draftee and seventh-round pick Rodney Thomas II after starting his first two games as a rookie. It wasn’t until Week 13 of the 2023 season versus the Tennessee Titans that Cross would get his first increased workload. Cross would get his second chance to start in Indy’s last two games of the season after Julian Blackmon went down with a season-ending injury and he hasn’t looked back since then.
