Colts still searching for swing tackle as Julién Davenport, Matt Pryor compete for snaps

INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts tried to upgrade at swing tackle.

Indianapolis signed a pair of former starters coming off of their rookie contracts to low-money deals in the offseason, then threw Sam Tevi and Julién Davenport into a three-man battle with returning Will Holden in the hopes that competition would provide an answer.

Four weeks into the season, the Colts are still looking for that answer.

Davenport won the job in training camp, and he’s started all four games due to injury absences by left tackle Eric Fisher and right tackle Braden Smith.

But Davenport has struggled on both the left side and the right, and the past two weeks the Colts have started rotating Matt Pryor into the lineup in Davenport’s place, increasing the frequency in Sunday’s win over Miami.
