INDIANAPOLIS – So much for not having a special teams holdover from their game against the New England Patriots for the Indianapolis Colts.
It turns out things are even worse for the Colts.
Receiver Griff Whalen returned a kickoff 30 yards before fumbling it and the Saints recovered the ball and returned it to Indianapolis’ 27-yard line. New Orleans scored three plays later to take a 20-0 lead.
Whalen’s fumble added to what had been bad week for him.
He was the center who snapped the ball to Colt Anderson when he wasn’t supposed to on the botched fake punt attempt against the New England Patriots on Oct.
