WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The Colts played a key role in the most significant change to come out of the NFL’s annual meeting this week, the league’s decision to allow both teams to possess the ball in the postseason.
Indianapolis, working in tandem with Philadelphia, introduced the rule that ultimately got passed, the third change to the overtime rule in the last 12 seasons.
Colts head coach Frank Reich is part of the competition committee that sent the proposal to the owners.
Indianapolis owner Jim Irsay headed into this week’s meetings with the other 31 owners determined to come away with some kind of change.
