INDIANAPOLIS — A Colts team that has dealt with an inordinate amount of injuries to its best players is now dealing with a season-ending injury to one of the secondary’s most important players.
Second-year safety Julian Blackmon tore his Achilles tendon, an injury that typically takes at least eight months to recover, during Wednesday’s practice.
Blackmon is the backbone of the Indianapolis secondary, and he’s played 97.2% of the team’s defensive snaps since taking over for Malik Hooker in the third week of his rookie year. The second-year safety has 31 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, a pass breakup and a fumble forced this season.
