Colts return 21 of 22 starters — but that doesn't mean there aren't key position battles still

The Indianapolis Colts are a rarity in the NFL as they get ready to open training camp Thursday.

No other team in the NFL was able to retain as many starters from its 2018 team as the Colts, who bring back 21 of 22 starters and spent the offseason adding to their foundation, rather than trying to plug the gaps.

But that does not mean the Colts’ training camp at Westfield’s Grand Park will be short on competition. By the time training camp is over, Indianapolis must be down to the NFL’s 53-man roster limit, and that means the competition will be fierce for roster spots at several key positions.
