INDIANAPOLIS — The downward trajectory Jacob Eason has been taking since the opening of training camp has hit the bottom.
The Colts released Eason, the 2020 fourth-round pick who opened the season as the team’s backup and faltered in relief of an injured Carson Wentz against the Rams, in order to make room for sixth-round rookie Sam Ehlinger to be activated off of injured reserve.
Indianapolis also waived defensive tackle Chris Williams, who made the team as a surprise out of training camp and has played 29 defensive snaps, in order to promote kicker Michael Badgley to the 53-man roster, a sign that the Colts see Badgley as the long-term replacement for Rodrigo Blankenship despite trying out four kickers on Monday.
