The Indianapolis Colts have re-signed Darius Butler, who has been the team's best slot cornerback during his five seasons, to a one-year deal, it was announced Friday.
A source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the Colts are planning on moving Butler to safety. The deal is worth $3 million and can increase to $4.5 million with incentives, the source told Schefter.
Butler, who will turn 31 on March 18, showed off his versatility -- and his future position -- last season when he split time between cornerback and safety because of injuries and inexperience at the safety position.
