Colts place veteran LB Cole on injured reserve

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Colts have placed linebacker Trent Cole on injured reserve with an undisclosed injury.

Cole missed the team's Week 2 game at Denver with a back injury.

The Colts signed Cole during the 2015 offseason in an attempt to improve their pass rush after he recorded 85.5 sacks during his 10-year career with the Philadelphia Eagles. But Cole didn't have the same type of impact with the Colts. He only had three sacks and 35 tackles in 16 games with the team.

The loss of Cole leaves Robert Mathis, Erik Walden, Akeem Ayers and Curt Maggitt as the team's outside linebackers.
