INDIANAPOLIS — The Colts have placed starting quarterback Carson Wentz on the reserve/COVID-19 list, and under the NFL’s current COVID-19 protocols, Wentz will miss Sunday’s game against the Raiders.
Wentz is unvaccinated. Under NFL rules, he must sit out 10 days before returning to the team.
If Indianapolis beats Las Vegas, the Colts would clinch a playoff spot, but the task is now much tougher. Wentz’s backup, rookie quarterback Sam Ehlinger, has never thrown an NFL pass. Indianapolis could also choose to start veteran Brett Hundley, who is currently on the practice squad.
