Colts Place Charlie Whitehurst and Hugh Thornton on Injured Reserve

The Indianapolis Colts announced today that the team has placed quarterback Charlie Whitehurst (hamstring) and starting offensive guard Hugh Thornton (ankle) on season-ending injured reserve.

Coming in relief of Matt Hasselbeck, Whitehurst was 9 for 14 for 78 passing yards, 0 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and a passer rating of 78.9. However, the 10-year veteran suffered a hamstring injury late in the 4th quarter on Sunday, but the offense was never forced to come onto the field again.

For the Colts, with Hasselbeck already doubtful for next Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans with a shoulder injury, the team is incredibly thin at quarterback now that Whitehurst is also down and out for the count.
